Brandi Cyrus Shares 1 Thing That ‘Scared’ Her About Mom Tish’s New Marriage

Brandi Cyrus is happy her mom, Tish Cyrus, found love again with husband Dominic Purcell — but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have some initial worries.

“I did tell you [that] you were rushing marriage a little bit,” Brandi, 38, reminded Tish, 58, during the Tuesday, July 15, episode of the “Boyfriend Material” podcast, referring to the pace of the pair’s relationship.

Brandi recalled, “It scared me. I’m like, ‘We just got out of one marriage, why are we jumping into another?’ It just freaked me out.”

After podcast host Harry Jowsey said he liked the idea of getting married quickly, Brandi pointed out that going too quickly can cause residual issues.

“When you rush things, [then] you have to take a few steps backward and work through a bunch of s*** that you skipped,” Brandi explained.

Brandi noted that her mom didn’t listen to her warnings, but luckily, she’s happy with Purcell, 55.

“I feel like you don’t like taking [Miley’s] dating advice,” Brandi told her mom, after Tish claimed middle daughter Miley Cyrus was the most “encouraging” about her finding love again after her divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus.

Brandi teased, “I feel like you like taking your own dating advice,” confessing it “got her” to where she is now with the Prison Break actor.

Tish’s whirlwind romance with Purcell came after a long relationship with Billy Ray, 63. Tish and Billy Ray tied the knot in 1993 and went on to welcome Miley, 32, Braison, 31, and Noah, 25. (Billy Ray adopted Tish’s two children from a prior relationship, Brandi and son Trace, 36, after they got married. Billy Ray also shares son Christopher, 33, with ex Kristin Luckey.)

The country singer split from Tish in 2010 for the first time. They reconciled shortly after, but by the next year separated a second time in 2013.

After going to couples therapy, Tish and Billy Ray confirmed in July 2013 that they decided to forgo the divorce and “stay together.”

Tish and Billy Ray remained together for nearly another decade before she filed for divorce in April 2022. Three months later, Tish confirmed her relationship with Purcell and they got engaged in April 2023.

While Brandi was hesitant about how fast her mom was moving with the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow actor, she was one of Tish’s three children in attendance for her August 2023 nuptials. Miley and Trace were also on hand to see their mom get hitched.

Although Noah was on the outs with Tish when she got remarried, a source exclusively told Us Weekly in August 2024 that they were “working on rebuilding their relationship.”

Noah confirmed in April that she and Tish are on better terms when she went on her mom’s “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast.

“We still need our mommy so bad,” Noah confessed. “Whenever I’m down or whenever [my siblings] are down, we call my mom or she calls us. How many times a week do you answer the phone and I’m crying? A lot, like, and she’ll answer, ‘What’s wrong?’ But now we always call her through anything.”

Billy Ray, for his part, married Firerose in October 2013 after his own whirlwind relationship. News broke in June 2024 that the musician filed for an annulment from Firerose, 36. Billy Ray later went public with his and Elizabeth Hurley’s relationship in April.
