Hilary Duff Through the Years: Disney, Motherhood and More

Hilary Duff became a well-known name during her time on Disney Channel playing Lizzie McGuire. Since then, she has explored songwriting and starred in additional film and TV roles.

In August 2019, Disney+ announced a Lizzie McGuire reboot, starring Duff as a now-adult version of the iconic character.

“Her having a completely different life than Hilary — she doesn’t have kids — I thought it would be a really fun experience to go through it with her,” Duff told Us Weekly exclusively in November 2019 of revisiting the role. “I think it’s going to be a really good mix of giving everyone what they want from the show in the past, and also a new fresh show and her at 30, which looks completely different.”

Production was halted by January 2020 and the Disney streaming platform formally canceled the series the following December.

Despite the reboot’s disappointing fate, Duff continued to find success in different projects, including Younger, How I Met Your Father and real-life motherhood. Duff shares son Luca (born in 2012) with ex-husband Mike Comrie, as well as daughters Banks (born in 2018), Mae (born in 2021) and Townes (born in 2024) with husband Matthew Koma.
