Kate Bosworth and Justin Long Reveal the "Romantic and Honest" Way He Proposed

Kate Bosworth and Justin Long have confirmed their engagement - and revealed the sweet and personal way he proposed. After 40-year-old "Blue Crush" star Bosworth debuted a 10-carat ring at the Vanity Fair Oscars party on March 12, People reported on March 24 that multiple sources said the couple are set to tie the knot. Now, in the April 4 edition of his podcast, "Life Is Short with Justin Long," the couple wanted to share the news, themselves, through a "loving conversation." Long said he had a proposal planned around Bosworth's birthday in January but said a month before that "things changed." Instead, "It was a moment where it just felt so organic and it felt connected to something very, very deeply, profoundly personal that we were going through, like, a real life change, and so it came out in a very organic way," he said of popping the question. "The asking of it was easy, it just kind of spilled out." Bosworth said Long and she had just woken up and were chatting when "I smiled at you, and I said, 'What do you need?' And he, like, really looked at me and he said, 'To spend my life with you.' And I smiled and I said, 'Well, yeah, you have that. Oh my gosh, you have that,' and he said, 'No, I mean I really want to spend my life with you.' " She added, "I thought it was the most romantic and honest and loving proposal." One insider close to Bosworth previously told People the actor was "on cloud nine" about her engagement. "She is showing off her engagement ring to friends," the source added. "She is being coy about details, but she is beaming. Everyone is happy for her. Justin is a great guy. He adores her. It's just amazing to see them together." Bosworth seemed to hint at the relationship milestone when she shared an Instagram album with film photos of her and Long getting ready for the Academy Awards on March 15. In the caption, she thanked nail artist Ashlie Johnson for "the most important manicure to date." Johnson also posted photos from Bosworth's night on her Instagram, calling out Bosworth's "new bling" in the caption. Bosworth and Long were first romantically linked in May 2021 after they wrapped up filming for their 2022 horror film "House of Darkness." Bosworth shared photos of them on Instagram and praised Long, writing, "Holy moly @justinlong you are a truly spectacular / fun / funny / kind / rare / thoughtful / totally. fckn. rad human being." Seven months later, Long confirmed he was in a relationship on his "Life Is Short With Justin Long" podcast, but he didn't reveal the name of his other half. According to People, the couple were then spotted together on several occasions throughout 2022. Then, during an April 2022 appearance on Nick Viall's show "The Viall Files," Long said he had found "the one." Without disclosing Bosworth's name, Long said, "I want to [talk about it], but I also want to be protective. I want to scream it from the rooftops, but I also want to be protective. It's sacred."
