Pink and Kelly Clarkson Perform "What About Us" in a Stripped-Down Duet

After watching Pink and Kelly Clarkson perform "What About Us," we're ready for a joint album from the two singers. During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," Pink sat down with the host to discuss the poetry behind her lyrics and perform some of her hit songs. The hour-long segment, titled "Songs and Stories," airs on Feb. 6. Before Clarkson joined Pink for a stripped-down, acoustic version of "What About Us," which appeared on Pink's 2017 album "Beautiful Trauma," she asked about what inspired the undeniably political song. "We're not listening to each other right now," Pink said. "People are being forgotten. People are being counted out, and their rights are being trampled on just because a group of people doesn't believe in them," she continued, making a point to say that her own voice matters and she will do whatever she can to use it to amplify other voices. Her strong voice was undeniably prominent in the emotional duet with Clarkson. Unlike the show's famous segment, "Kellyoke" - which has included guests like Sam Smith, Dolly Parton, and Dwayne Johnson, and typically puts Clarkson's larger than life voice on full display - her vocals happily took the back seat to Pink's in this duet. For a much softer take on the inclusive anthem, which originally features electronic keys, soft drums, and dance beats, the seasoned cover artist and her guest simply sang over an acoustic guitar for this rendition.
