Baby Malti's first visit to India included a spiritual moment that her mom will never forget. On Friday, Priyanka Chopra shared a carousel of photos from her special mother-daughter trip with Malti to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai on Instagram.
"MM's first trip to India had to be completed with Shree Siddhivinayak's blessings," Chopra captioned the beautiful pictures from her visit to the temple. In the photos, 1-year-old Malti and her mom stand in the flower-filled temple as they receive their blessings. For her part, the "Citadel" actor wore a vibrant red-and-blue outfit, while her daughter wore a white gown with intricate embroidery along with a white headband.
Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed their daughter to the world via surrogacy in January 2022. Little Malti was born prematurely and spent more than 100 hundred days in the NICU, but their baby girl made it home in time to celebrate her first Mother's Day with her parents. In a January interview with British Vogue, Chopra reflected on those early days when she wasn't sure her daughter would make it.
"I was in the OR [operating room] when she came out. She was so small, smaller than my hand," Chopra said. "I saw what the intensive-care nurses do. They do God's work. Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her. I don't know how they even found what they needed [in her tiny body] to intubate her."
The "Love Again" actor continued, "We spent every single day with her on my chest, on my husband's chest. I didn't know if she would make it or not." One year later and Malti is thriving, but Chopra can't help but be protective of her daughter.

"I've developed a tough hide when people talk about me," she told the outlet. "But it's so painful when they talk about my daughter. I'm like, 'Keep her out of it.' I know what it felt like to hold her little hands when they were trying to find her veins. So no, she's not going to be gossip. I've been really protective of this chapter of my life with my daughter. Because it's not about my life only. It's hers too."
