Jada and Chris met when Chris was a junior in high school and Jada was a senior.
Jada explained in a 2014 interview with xoNecole that a mutual friend set them up. The two finished high school and went to Wake Forest University together before Chris was drafted into the NBA in 2005 after his sophomore year of college.
“We met in high school. I’m a year older than him, so in high school it wasn’t cool to be a senior dating a junior,” Jada said in an interview with xoNecole in 2014.
The couple stayed together throughout college and tied the knot in September 2011 in North Carolina. Chris was already in the seventh year of his NBA career at that time.

Other NBA stars attended the wedding as well, including LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. Comedian Kevin Hart was also at the star-studded ceremony.
“Our relationship has been a progression,” Jada told Essence magazine at the time. “I feel safe with Chris. He’s very protective.”
Chris and Jada share two kids together: Chris Jr., 16, and Camryn, 13.
They co-founded the CP3 Foundation in 2005 in partnership with The Winston-Salem Foundation with the goal of making a positive impact “by focusing on education, health & wellness, and leadership. The foundation provides resources that enrich and strengthen the healthy development of strong communities.”
Chris has been very supportive of his wife throughout the years, sharing with People in a 2022 interview that praising the women in his life is very important to him.
“I think that’s why I’m blessed to have the strong mother I was raised by, but then also have an amazing wife and have the opportunity to raise two amazing kids,” he said.
Soon after he was drafted in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft, Chris made his presence felt in the league. He earned the Rookie of the Year Award after his first season with the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans).
