Ryan Lochte's Ex Accuses His Fiancee of Having 'Desperation for Attention'

Ryan Lochte‘s ex-wife, Kayla Rae Reid, is publicly demanding that the Olympian’s fiancée, Molly Gillihan, “leave me and my children alone.”

“At this point, the continuous desperation for attention is overwhelmingly obvious,” Reid, 35, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, October 19. “And while I recognize that publicly discussing me may generate the attention she’s never received, I would appreciate being left out of it.”

Reid has clashed with both Gillihan, 38, and Lochte, 42, multiple times since she split from the swimmer in March 2025, including accusing the two of cheating together during her marriage. (Lochte has denied that there was any overlap between his relationships with Reid and Gillihan.)

This latest flare-up stems from Gillihan purportedly publicly discussing Lochte’s custody scheduling with Reid for the former couple’s three children: son Caiden, 9, and their two daughters, Liv Rae and Georgia June, 7 and 3, respectively.

“I’m a mother of three young children, doing the overwhelming majority of the parenting and financially providing for them almost entirely my own,” Reid claimed. “My days are spent raising my children, running my businesses, and building a life that I genuinely love.”

She continued, “Meanwhile, from a distance, I continue to be subjected to name-calling, personal attacks, and unnecessary commentary from people I have made every effort to remove myself from.”

Reid denied that her children spent “most of their summer” with Lochte, explaining that their custody agreement specifies that the children are with their dad for “one month” out of the two and a half months they have off. The model also clarified that she and Lochte divide time with their kids “equally” during Christmas break.

“It’s fascinating how selectively facts are presented,” she wrote. “And you would think that by marriage number three, her understanding of respect, boundaries and the importance of staying out of someone else’s family matters? But I suppose experience doesn’t always translate into growth.”

Reid added, “I would be, yet again, embarrassed and ashamed of my life choices.”

While Lochte is not directly mentioned in Reid’s statement, she advised that a father should “draw a very clear line when it comes to someone publicly disrespecting” the mother of his children.

As she closed her statement, Reid insisted that she has “absolutely no interest in competing, arguing or participating in this circus.”

“I have three actual children to raise,” she noted. “So, for what feels like the hundredth time, please leave me and my children alone. Publicly and privately.”

Lochte went public with his new relationship with Gillihan mere months after Reid announced her separation from him in June 2025. The athlete got engaged to Gillihan that October, even though he was still legally married to Reid.

In July, Reid confirmed that she was “officially divorced” from Lochte. The model shed light on the root of her beef with Gillihan the following month, claiming that Lochte’s fiancée is “someone I knew from Gainesville,” Florida, and accused her of initiating a romance with her ex “behind my back.”
