Why Meghan King Was Able to See Her Kids After Jim Edmonds Custody Deal

New details are being revealed about Meghan King and Jim Edmonds’ custody agreement.

After King, 41, posted photos with her children over the weekend, multiple sources provided exclusive insight to Us Weekly about what’s happening behind the scenes.

One source explained that King has been with her kids even though Edmonds, 55, has full custody.

“Jim and Meghan can mutually agree that she can be with the kids,” the source explained. “Jim wants it to look like on paper that he has custody full-time but it’s not necessarily sustainable. The kids are with Meghan a lot of the time.”

Another source, however, claimed that the kids are permanently moving to Nashville with Edmonds and his wife Kortnie O’Connor in the coming days.

“They will be with Meghan for a few days around Christmas per their agreement,” a separate source explained. “The reason Meghan has been seen with the kids lately is that Jim was being nice and let her see them before the permanent move.”

Us has reached out to King and Edmonds’ reps for comment.

Over the weekend, King — who is based in Missouri — did share a rare photo with her kids at a local holiday mart. Us understands that Edmonds let his ex-wife have the kids overnight this past weekend.

The post caught the attention of The Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge.

“This is also very confusing to me,” Judge, 58, shared on the Monday, December 15, episode of iHeartRadio’s “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. “I did see Meghan posted a picture on her [Instagram] Stories with her children, so she has them.”

Us exclusively reported on Thursday, December 11, that King, 41, agreed to let her three kids live full-time with Edmonds.

At the time, an insider told Us that King will have the children — including daughter Aspen, 9, and sons Hart and Hayes, both 7 — for a few weeks every summer. The deal was reached a short time before the exes were set to go before a judge.

When Judge questioned why King was posting her kids over the weekend on social media, cohost Dolores Catania replied, “Maybe she has them. It’s holiday break, isn’t it?”

While discussing Real Housewives headlines on her podcast, Judge appeared surprised at the latest developments surrounding King and Edmonds’ custody drama.

“I just don’t think that Meghan’s going to agree to seeing her children only a few weeks in the summer,” she said. “Makes zero sense. It’s all so sad.”

Judge added, “I don’t know what Meghan did, but it’s just sad, and it hurts the children.”

King and Judge were once costars on The Real Housewives of Orange County between seasons 10 and 12. When announcing her exit from the Bravo reality show in January 2018, King expressed gratitude for finding new friends like Judge.

The pair have remained friendly, with Judge previously publicly expressing her support for King after news broke in November that she temporarily lost custody of her three kids.

“She is so devastated. Her family is devastated,” Judge said on the November 25 episode of iHeartRadio’s “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. “To have your children taken away from you by a third party, I couldn’t even imagine. … I’ve always known her as a good mom and a good person, and she’s got an amazing family.”

Other Real Housewives of Orange County stars, including Kelly Dodd and Alexis Bellino, have also come to King’s defense during her latest custody drama.

In their latest podcast taping, both Judge and Catania, 54, agreed that parents need to do everything they can to make sure their kids aren’t harmed in splits.

“Sometimes men or women hate their spouse more than they love their kids,” Judge — who once experienced a custody battle with ex-husband Simon Barney — claimed, “and that’s when all the damage is done.”

Catania added, “The little people get hurt.”
