PAGCOR and LEDIPO Taytay Step Up for Fire and Flood Victims: Swift Aid Delivered to Hundreds in Crisis
July 16, 2025 - MANILA Philippines - In the face of devastating loss and displacement, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Local Economic Development Promotion Office (LEDIPO) Taytay, under the steadfast leadership of Ms. Cristina “Chin” Gonzales, answered the urgent call for help — bringing critical relief to hundreds of families in desperate need.
Following a catastrophic fire that tore through four barangays in Taytay, Rizal — Dolores, San Juan, Muzon, and Sta. Ana — on April 8, 2023, the response was swift and decisive. The inferno, one of the most tragic in recent memory, claimed at least seven lives in Barangay San Juan and left over 60 families without homes. In its aftermath, more than 300 families found themselves displaced, struggling to rebuild while housed in evacuation centers.
On May 5, 2023, PAGCOR and LEDIPO Taytay delivered food and non-food relief packs directly to the affected families, providing not only sustenance but also a sense of hope and solidarity. "We do not turn our backs on our community in its darkest hour," Ms. Gonzales emphasized. "This is not just aid — this is a commitment to stand with our people, to help them rise again."
The spirit of bayanihan didn’t stop in Taytay. Recognizing the growing needs across the country, PAGCOR and LEDIPO Taytay also extended assistance to the flood-stricken second district of Sorsogon. There, 500 food packs were dispatched to families suffering from the impact of recent torrential rains.
This dual-front response stands as a testament to the power of coordinated action and compassionate leadership. In times of crisis, it is these swift and sincere efforts that help communities survive — and eventually, thrive again.
